Team Spotlight: Meet Dr. Marcia Parrilla – Bringing Precision and Purpose to Education Data

At Alla Breve Consulting, we believe data becomes powerful when it leads to meaningful change. That’s exactly the mindset Dr. Marcia Parrilla brings to our team. As a Quantitative Research Specialist, she pairs deep technical expertise with a passion for practical, problem-solving insights that help education leaders drive strategic progress.

A Shift from Academia to Action

Marcia’s career began in academia, where she pursued graduate research with the goal of becoming a professor. But a pivotal internship with Focus DC shifted her trajectory. “I was paired with a few charter schools and saw how I could apply my research and data analysis to real-time decision-making. I fell in love with the immediate impact of applied work,” she explains.

That experience set her on a path toward educational consulting, where she could continue using data to influence practice—not just theory.

Drawn to Data-Driven Strategy

Before joining Alla Breve, Marcia worked with Mass Insight, where she consulted with school districts across Massachusetts. The work was rewarding, but what drew her to Alla Breve was the opportunity to go deeper into the objective use of data.

“Mass Insight has great people, but Alla Breve is different. Here, data aren’t secondary—they are central. Every decision we support is anchored in evidence, not intuition,” she says. “I wanted to be part of a team that starts with the numbers and builds from there.”

Insights that Drive Change

Marcia’s approach to data emphasizes clarity and usability. “It starts with asking the right questions—making sure the survey items or data points are actually actionable,” she notes. Her work ensures that every piece of data collected supports a concrete step in a district’s planning process.

She’s particularly energized by strategic planning efforts. “It’s rewarding to help solve specific problems for specific districts. I like knowing my work contributes to a plan that can guide a school for the next five or ten years,” she says.

Current Projects and Passion Areas

Right now, Marcia is leading a factor analysis for two districts, exploring underlying patterns in data collected from students, parents, and staff. Her goal? Identify key themes like school environment and workforce dynamics, then turn those insights into structured, long-term plans.

“It’s the kind of work that lights me up,” she says. “We’re not just collecting data—we’re shaping the foundation for future improvement.”

A Collaborative, Impact-Driven Team

Marcia describes the culture at Alla Breve as thoughtful and collaborative. “There’s a real sense of purpose here,” she says. “Everyone is focused on using data to make schools better, and that shared goal creates a strong team dynamic.”

Partnership is central to how she works with clients. “I see myself as a thought partner—someone who listens closely, brings clarity, and helps districts make decisions they can stand behind,” she explains.

Beyond the Data

When she’s not analyzing surveys or building reports, you can usually find Marcia at home with her two-year-old son—or outside in the garden. “Gardening has always been my thing. I didn’t realize how much I relied on it until I skipped a summer and missed it terribly,” she says.

Final Thought

Dr. Marcia Parrilla brings analytical rigor and human-centered purpose to her work. Whether supporting district-wide strategic plans or uncovering patterns in survey data, she ensures the numbers always serve a greater mission: helping schools grow stronger through clarity, planning, and equity.

We’re thrilled to have Marcia on the Alla Breve team!!
